Can someone come today before the food spoils?
Usually yes. A fridge that is not cooling goes to the front of the queue, and morning calls are almost always attended the same day. Move what you can to a neighbour or a cooler box meanwhile.
Will I know the cost before any work starts?
Yes. The technician checks pressures and electrics first, then writes one price covering part, labour and callout. You can decline at that point, and if the unit cannot be saved there is nothing to pay.
Is a gas leak worth repairing?
Often yes, if the leak is on an accessible joint or the condenser. If it is inside the foam insulation or the compressor itself has seized on an older cabinet, we will tell you to replace rather than take your money.
Which units do you cover?

Do you carry refrigerant gas with you?
Yes. R134a and R600a are on the van along with gauges and a vacuum pump, so charging and leak repair happen on the same visit rather than a second appointment.
How long before it is cold again?
The repair itself is often under an hour. A cabinet then takes four to six hours to pull down to temperature, so do not judge it on the first thirty minutes after we leave.
